Meet Dr. Bruce Anderson

Dr. Bruce Anderson grew up in London, Canada.  He received both his undergraduate and dental education at Western University, completing an Honors degree in Physiology in 1995, and a Doctor of Dental Surgery in 1999. Dr. Anderson continued his training by completing a General Practice Residency at the State University of New York at Buffalo.  He then transitioned to being clinical faculty at the University at Buffalo School of Dental Medicine and the Niagara College School of Dental Hygiene.  Dr. Anderson served as the Residency Program Director of a General Practice Residency in Buffalo NY, from 2000-2003.  During this time, he also maintained a hospital-based dental practice focusing on skilled nursing and special needs patients.

Four years of practicing in academic and hospital environments inspired Dr. Anderson to pursue further specialty training.  As a result, he came to Atlanta in 2003 and completed his surgical residency in Oral and Maxillofacial Surgery from the Emory University School of Medicine in 2008.

Following residency, Dr. Anderson maintained a thriving private practice south of Atlanta for 17 years with South OMS.  He has now taken the opportunity to move closer to home, and is delighted to continue the legacy of Metropolitan Oral Surgery Associates with his experienced, personal, and compassionate care.

Dr. Anderson is board-certified by the American Board of Oral and Maxillofacial Surgery, a Fellow of the American Association of Oral and Maxillofacial Surgeons, and an active member of the Georgia Society of Oral and Maxillofacial Surgeons, American Dental Association, and Georgia Dental Association.  Dr. Anderson has been a contributing author to oral surgery textbooks and was a director of the Southern Crescent Study Club—a local study club providing continuing education for the area’s general dentists and specialists for thirteen years.  Dr. Anderson is Advanced Cardiac Life Support and Pediatric Advanced Life Support certified, and is an American Heart Association certified CPR instructor.  Dr. Anderson is on staff at Emory University Hospital Midtown and is the consulting oral surgeon for the Shepherd Center.

Dr. Anderson enjoys practicing the full scope of oral and maxillofacial surgery, including dental implant placement, advanced bone grafting, wisdom tooth removal, dental extractions, oral pathology, temporomandibular joint disorders, facial trauma reconstruction, and outpatient anesthesia.  He lives with his family in Atlanta.
